Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has warned that all logistical and service centers supporting the U.S. Ford carrier in the Red Sea are legitimate targets. Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier docks at Jeddah port in Saudi Arabia. Consequently, the IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters spokesman said the vessel poses a direct threat to Iran. He also stressed that Iranian forces consider not only the carrier but its support infrastructure as potential targets. This includes maintenance facilities, supply chains, and operational support systems.

The U.S. Ford carrier, America’s largest and most advanced supercarrier, entered the Red Sea on March 6. It transited the Suez Canal amid rising tensions following a U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran on February 28. Moreover, the carrier is accompanied by guided-missile destroyers and other vessels in its strike group. Recent satellite imagery shows the 100,000-ton vessel operating around 100 kilometers off Saudi Arabia’s coast. Analysts further indicate the carrier has moved closer to Jeddah, signaling an increased strategic presence in the region.

Additionally, the deployment marks Ford’s first mission in the Middle East since its commissioning in 2017, with the ship already spending more than 255 days at sea. IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Majid Mousavi previously warned that Iranian forces would closely monitor the carrier. He explained that they are ready to strike once the vessel enters the designated perimeter. Likewise, Tehran has repeatedly highlighted that any nation aiding U.S. operations against Iran may be considered complicit in aggression. Experts warn that this development could further heighten tensions in the Red Sea and Gulf regions.

Furthermore, military analysts emphasize that targeting the U.S. Ford carrier and its support network may disrupt naval operations and logistics, potentially affecting regional security and maritime trade routes. Iran maintains its position that its military actions remain defensive, targeting only U.S. and Israeli assets. Officials also stress they aim to avoid civilian casualties while asserting the country’s strategic deterrence. Consequently, the situation signals an ongoing escalation between Washington and Tehran.

Observers note that continued U.S. naval deployments and Iranian warnings could lead to increased confrontations in international waters. Nevertheless, both sides appear committed to maintaining strategic postures while monitoring each other closely. The presence of the U.S. Ford carrier underscores the broader geopolitical struggle in the Middle East. Analysts suggest that careful diplomacy and military readiness will continue shaping the region’s security landscape. Therefore, U.S. Ford carrier threats highlight Iran’s resolve to defend its interests while signaling a tense maritime standoff that could persist.
