Iran confirmed that it has received a U.S. response. The government is now Reviewing the U.S. Response to its proposed 14-point plan. Pakistani mediators delivered Washington’s answer to Tehran. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei announced the news in a televised interview, for this marks a new diplomatic phase.

Baghaei clarified that Iran’s proposal focuses only on ending the war, and the plan contains nothing about Iran’s nuclear program. “There are absolutely no details regarding nuclear issues,” he said. The spokesman dismissed recent media reports about the plan’s contents, yet he called those claims fabricated. Therefore, Reviewing the U.S. Response requires careful attention to these facts.

The 14-point plan centers on halting U.S.-Israeli aggression, so it also aims to stop hostilities across the region. Baghaei said nuclear issues belong to previous negotiations, but those talks happened before the war began. The current Reviewing the U.S. Response has nothing to do with them, for the war changed everything.

The U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on February 28. Tehran was in diplomatic talks with Washington at that time, yet the attacks assassinated Iran’s Leader and targeted nuclear facilities. Schools, hospitals, and civilian infrastructure also suffered damage, so a temporary ceasefire took effect on April 8 after Pakistan mediated.

Iran and the U.S. held one round of intensive talks in Islamabad, and the discussions lasted 21 hours on April 11. They ended without any breakthrough agreement, for Iran cited Washington’s excessive demands as the reason. President Trump later extended the ceasefire indefinitely, but tensions remain high.

The proposed framework includes an initial cessation of hostilities. A 30-day period would follow for detailed provisions, yet Iran does not accept negotiations under ultimatums. The country also rejects imposed deadlines, so officials continue their work.

Baghaei dismissed speculation about guarantor countries, for Tehran does not rely on Washington’s commitments as guarantees. Iran’s leverage comes from its own domestic power, and “power on the battlefield is the most important assurance,” he said. The spokesman emphasized Iran’s self-reliance in any agreement.

Iran delivered its plan to Pakistan on Thursday night, and Pakistan serves as a mediator in the U.S.-Iran talks. The war has caused massive destruction across Iran, yet Iran’s armed forces launched 100 waves of retaliatory strikes. These targeted American bases and Israeli positions, but the conflict continues.

The U.S. has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, so Iran refuses to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran says the blockade must end first, for any agreement depends on this condition. Washington’s blockade has failed to stop Iran’s oil revenues, however.

Iran’s immediate focus remains on ending the aggression, and the country also wants to stop hostilities in Lebanon. Baghaei said nuclear negotiations will happen later, but “we are currently concentrated on ending the war,” he stated. Other matters will receive attention at appropriate times, so patience is necessary.

The coming weeks will determine the next diplomatic steps, for Iran continues studying Washington’s response carefully. Pakistani mediators stand ready to facilitate more talks, yet a deal remains uncertain. However, both sides stay far apart on key issues.
