Internet restrictions are creating new mental health concerns across Iran, according to leading psychiatric experts. The warning highlights growing pressure on young people during ongoing digital disruptions. Specialists say internet restrictions now affect education, communication, employment, and emotional stability.

Amirhossein Jalali Nadoushan, spokesperson for the Iranian Scientific Psychiatric Association, said internet access has become essential in modern daily life. He explained that repeated disruptions can increase psychological pressure and weaken public trust.

Jalali Nadoushan said younger generations rely heavily on digital platforms for education and social interaction. He described the internet as a space connected to family life, friendships, and personal experiences. According to him, losing that access can create emotional effects similar to losing basic daily needs.

The psychiatrist also warned about the long-term effects of unpredictable restrictions. He said people may temporarily accept limitations during wartime or emergencies. However, uncertainty and weak communication can eventually increase social frustration and anxiety.

Iran has faced several periods of internet disruption during recent years. Authorities often introduced restrictions during security tensions and regional conflicts. Communication outages also increased during the recent war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Technology analysts say digital restrictions affect businesses alongside social life. Many online companies depend on stable internet access for sales, advertising, and customer support. Startup operators therefore continue to report financial losses during extended disruptions.

Mental health specialists say digital isolation can especially affect students and young professionals. Social media and online platforms now shape learning, career development, and personal identity for millions of users. Reduced access may therefore increase feelings of isolation and uncertainty.

Jalali Nadoushan also warned about wider international consequences. He said repeated internet restrictions could reduce the visibility of Iranian voices in global discussions. Researchers and digital activists similarly argue that weaker connectivity limits cultural and academic exchanges.

Economic observers note that internet instability also damages investor confidence in technology industries. Businesses often delay expansion plans when communication systems remain unpredictable. International companies may also hesitate before entering uncertain digital markets.

Government officials have defended some restrictions during periods of national tension. Authorities argue that temporary measures sometimes protect public security and infrastructure. However, continue to call for clearer communication and more transparent digital policies.

Internet restrictions remain a sensitive issue for many families and businesses across the country. Mental health professionals now urge policymakers to consider the emotional and social effects carefully. They believe stable communication access supports both economic resilience and public wellbeing.

Internet restrictions will likely remain part of national debate during coming months. Experts expect growing discussions about balancing security concerns with mental health and economic stability. Many specialists also believe stronger transparency could reduce public anxiety and improve trust over time.
