Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially inaugurated the nation’s largest solar power facility during National Government Week ceremonies. Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi and Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati joined senior government officials at the opening ceremony. The new 95-megawatt clean-energy plant is located adjacent to Shamsabad Industrial Town, southeast of Tehran.

Engineering teams constructed the facility across a 147-hectare site in less than nine months. The installation consists of two separate sections, generating 63 megawatts and 32 megawatts, respectively. Consequently, the facility’s combined capacity will provide reliable daytime electricity to major manufacturing plants across the industrial park.

The successful commissioning of the project brings Iran’s total solar power generation capacity closer to 5,500 megawatts. During his keynote address, President Pezeshkian emphasized that expanding renewable-energy infrastructure remains vital to supporting domestic production. Furthermore, he urged cabinet ministers to accelerate clean-energy development to eliminate industrial power outages.

Central Bank Governor Hemmati confirmed full financial support for state-sponsored and private clean-energy initiatives. The Central Bank has already allocated $1.7 billion to national renewable-energy development projects. Additionally, Hemmati pledged continued foreign-exchange and local-currency support for expanding domestic solar-panel manufacturing.

Energy Minister Aliabadi outlined broader ministry strategies focused on decentralized, household-scale solar installations to enhance local energy security. He noted that new project financing mechanisms have simplified private investment in the domestic power sector. Ultimately, these strategic national investments are establishing a more reliable energy framework while gradually reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
