Director Babak Khajehpasha’s award-winning feature film Land of Angels will launch its international screening tour in Russia. The acclaimed movie will premiere at the 22nd Altyn Minbar Kazan International Film Festival.Organized in Tatarstan’s historic capital, the global cinematic showcase runs from September 4 through September 8.
Producer Manouchehr Mohammadi spearheaded the collaborative production alongside the Tasvir-e Shahr Institute and Soureh Cinema Center. Notably, graphic artist Mohammad Rouholamin created two international promotional posters in English and Arabic for the premiere. The narrative follows a brave woman who protects innocent young children amidst the devastating Gaza conflict.
The project features a talented cast of Arab actors depicting the everyday struggles and dreams of local youth.Previously, the production swept the 44th Fajr Film Festival in February, securing five Crystal Simorgh trophies. Director Khajehpasha earned the special jury prize, while Syrian lead actress Sulaf Fawakherji received acting honors.
Additionally, crew members Payam Hossein Souri and Mohammad Hassan Izadi won awards for production design and visual effects. The upcoming festival screening coincides with Kazan’s official designation as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World. Established in 2005, the Altyn Minbar festival promotes humanitarian values through international cross-cultural dialogue.
Organizers confirmed a record-breaking submission total of 1,030 entries from 66 participating countries for this edition. Programmers selected 146 feature and short films to represent Asia, Africa, and Latin America.Beyond regular screenings, delegates will conduct educational workshops, pitching panels, and film laboratory sessions in Bolgar.
