Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran will immediately reciprocate if the United States returns to its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. He made these strategic statements during his address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek. Furthermore, he emphasized that Tehran stands ready to restore mutual compliance as soon as Washington fulfills its obligations.

Addressing regional leaders in Kyrgyzstan, President Pezeshkian criticized Washington for violating the diplomatic accord shortly after its initial signing. He noted that American commitment to the signed document endured for less than two weeks. Consequently, Iranian authorities deployed proportionate responses following the abrupt breakdown of American compliance under the framework.

The Islamabad memorandum followed weeks of intense conflict and diplomatic negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Qatar. The comprehensive agreement aimed to establish a lasting ceasefire and stabilize regional maritime transportation routes. Nevertheless, recent diplomatic frictions have hindered the full implementation of agreed protocols between both participating nations.

Despite recent military escalations, senior Iranian political and military officials have repeatedly expressed readiness to resume mutual compliance. They maintain that full adherence depends entirely on Washington demonstrating renewed commitment to the original provisions. Meanwhile, regional international partners continue urging both governments to exercise restraint and pursue constructive diplomatic channels.

During the Bishkek gathering, Pezeshkian also outlined major proposals to expand financial and energy collaboration among member states. He advocated for creating a dedicated multilateral bank alongside a unified energy consortium to enhance regional integration. Looking ahead, international observers expect diplomatic mediators to launch fresh talks aimed at restoring compliance.
