Iran has openly rejected a United Nations resolution, calling it a politicized attack on its government. Human rights remain central to Tehran’s criticism, and officials insist the resolution ignores the country’s protective efforts. Consequently, Iran claims the UN’s action undermines national laws and threatens citizens’ welfare. The Permanent Mission of Iran to the UN in Geneva said that the protection of human rights cannot improve through outside political pressure. Furthermore, the mission explained that the UN’s special session lacked genuine concern for the Iranian people. It also pointed out that the resolution’s sponsors consistently show little interest in promoting human rights.

Moreover, the statement emphasized that if the initiators truly cared about citizens’ well-being, they would not impose sanctions that harm the population. In addition, Iran criticized the international community for neglecting Israel’s aggressive acts, which Tehran says cause more suffering than they acknowledge. Officials reported that recent conflicts killed and injured thousands of Iranians. Therefore, they stressed that Iran’s legal system must handle these incidents. Rights and protections, they argued, remain guaranteed by strong national accountability systems. These mechanisms operate independently and ensure fairness without foreign interference.

Under orders from President Masoud Pezeshkian, authorities now conduct thorough investigations into recent incidents. The government pledges to treat detainees fairly and apply justice with care. Furthermore, Iran maintains that citizens’ protections can only exist through independent legal processes and national sovereignty. Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Council passed the resolution after a special session, which Iran condemned as rushed and politically motivated. Several European countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Iceland, North Macedonia, and Moldova, proposed the resolution.

Tehran insists that these actions reflect political goals rather than genuine concern for human rights. Overall, Iran’s rejection highlights growing tension between national sovereignty and international oversight. Additionally, it signals Tehran’s determination to maintain legal authority and protect citizens. Therefore, the country warns that external attempts to influence internal affairs will fail and stresses that rights must be respected through domestic legal channels.
