Iran and Armenia Strengthen Defense Ties During Official Visit

Iran’s Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, said that relations between Iran and the Republic of Armenia have always been based on peace and friendship. He spoke during a meeting with Armenia’s Defense Minister, Suren Papikyan, who arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for an official visit.

Brigadier General Nasirzadeh said he hopes the friendly ties between the two countries will continue in all areas. He emphasized the importance of defense and military cooperation. He also noted that bilateral relations are developing rapidly and that both sides are eager to expand collaboration in multiple fields.

During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on several areas of defense cooperation. They discussed military training programs, security coordination, and defense technology exchanges. Nasirzadeh highlighted the significance of addressing border issues and regional security concerns. He added that ongoing dialogue helps maintain peace and stability in the region.

Minister Papikyan said Armenia values its relationship with Iran and is committed to working closely in all sectors. He stressed that strong defense ties can support broader regional security. Both officials agreed that cooperation contributes to stability and mutual understanding in neighboring countries.

The discussions reflected the determination of both nations to strengthen military ties. They explored new opportunities for strategic partnership and measures to address common challenges. The visit also provided a platform for both countries to plan joint initiatives and deepen diplomatic contacts.
