Iran annual inflation reached 66% in July, reflecting continued pressure on household budgets across the country. The latest figures indicate that inflation accelerated further after recording 62% during the previous month.

According to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, annual inflation increased as higher prices affected most consumer goods and services. The report also showed that inflation continued rising across several major spending categories.

Furthermore, point-to-point inflation reached 87.9% during July. This means Iranian households paid nearly 88% more for the same basket of goods and services than one year earlier. The figure highlights the continuing rise in living costs.

The report also showed that monthly inflation increased by 3.1%. Although monthly growth remained lower than annual inflation, it still reflected ongoing price pressures throughout the economy.

Food prices continued rising faster than many other household expenses. Several essential products recorded sharp increases during recent months, placing additional pressure on family budgets. Economists note that food inflation has approached triple-digit levels in several categories.

Higher production costs continued affecting businesses across different industries. Manufacturers and suppliers faced rising expenses for raw materials, transportation, and operating costs. Consequently, many companies transferred part of those higher costs to consumers through increased prices.

Bread prices also increased during recent weeks, adding further pressure on household spending. At the same time, housing costs and rental prices continued their long-term upward trend across many parts of the country. These increases further reduced purchasing power for many families.

Economic analysts also pointed to weaker market activity as another challenge. Lower consumer purchasing power has reduced demand across several business sectors. As a result, many business owners continue facing lower sales despite higher consumer prices.

The latest inflation figures highlight the continuing challenges facing Iran’s economy. Rising prices continue affecting household finances, business activity, and overall economic confidence. Policymakers will likely monitor inflation closely while considering additional measures aimed at improving market stability and easing pressure on consumers.
