Iran and China have intensified their consultations over Iran’s nuclear program and regional cooperation. The Iran China talks also covered bilateral relations, global developments, and the importance of coordination at the United Nations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday. During the discussion, Araghchi expressed gratitude to China for its consistent stance against the “Snapback” mechanism in the UN Security Council. He said the mechanism, which seeks to restore sanctions on Iran, violates international law.

Araghchi emphasized that the cooperation among Iran, China, and Russia plays a vital role in countering unilateral actions by the United States and some Western nations. He added that this partnership reflects the growing resistance against pressure politics in international forums. According to Araghchi, 121 members of the Non-Aligned Movement also supported this joint stance.

In response, Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening strategic relations with Tehran. He noted that both nations must maintain continuous coordination within the UN and other international organizations. The Chinese minister praised Iran’s peaceful approach to its nuclear activities and emphasized the country’s right to pursue nuclear technology under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The Iran China talks also referenced the recent meeting between the presidents of both nations in September. The ministers agreed on the importance of organizing another high-level meeting soon. They said advancing agreements under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership would reinforce political and economic ties.

Both sides reiterated their readiness to implement these agreements through well-defined mechanisms. They discussed expanding cooperation in trade, technology, and energy, highlighting mutual benefits for both economies.

As Iran and China approach the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, the ministers expressed hope for stronger ties. They agreed to maintain close diplomatic contact and continue their coordinated efforts throughout the coming year. The Iran China talks underscored mutual respect, shared interests, and a joint commitment to stability in global affairs. Both nations see their partnership as a cornerstone of balance in international diplomacy.
