Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has strongly condemned comments by a U.S. official suggesting that Israel could expand its territory across the region. Esmaeil Baghaei, criticized remarks by Mike Huckabee, the U.S. envoy to occupied Palestine. Huckabee reportedly said it would be “fine” if Israel expanded from the Nile to the Euphrates. Consequently, Baghaei called the statement “dangerous and unacceptable.”
He said Huckabee’s comments show that the United States is supporting Israel’s expansionist policies. Moreover, he described it as a clear sign of America’s involvement in Israel’s aggression against Palestinians. “The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns such extremist statements,” Baghaei said. “Furthermore, this kind of rhetoric encourages the Israeli regime to continue illegal actions and aggression against the region’s people.”
Baghaei also noted that Iran’s position aligns with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The OIC, in addition, has repeatedly called on countries to reject extremist comments and harmful policies against Palestinians. He emphasized that Huckabee’s ideas reflect a wider pattern of violence, illegal settlement expansion, and human rights violations carried out by Israel. “Therefore, statements like this encourage the occupying regime to continue its actions against Palestinians and neighboring nations,” he added.
Iran has long opposed foreign support for Israel’s settlement policies. Such policies, it says, violate international law and undermine peace efforts in the region. As a result, Baghaei urged the international community to act against rhetoric and policies that threaten regional stability and Palestinian rights. He reaffirmed Iran’s support for Palestinians. “We oppose any measures that expand Israel’s control over Palestinian land,” he said. “Moreover, we will continue to support the Palestinian cause and call on all nations to uphold justice and human rights in the region.”
Huckabee’s statement has drawn attention across the Middle East. It highlights long-standing tensions over Israeli settlements, borders, and treatment of Palestinians. Overall, Iran’s condemnation reflects its ongoing opposition to policies that support occupation. In addition, it signals Tehran’s commitment to working with regional organizations to resist attempts at Israeli territorial expansion.
