Iran’s Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib has issued a strong warning about the IRGC threat to Western countries. He said nations labeling the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as terrorists will face serious consequences. Moreover, Khatib spoke during the anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution. He explained that countries acting against the IRGC have supported terrorist groups in the past. Therefore, he argued, the West’s decision ignores the IRGC’s role in fighting terrorism across the region. He emphasized that the IRGC threat is real and ongoing.
Recently, the European Union decided to list the IRGC as a terrorist organization. As a result, Khatib called this a hostile move that will backfire on those who support it.
