Iran Backed Palestinians More Than Arab Nations, Zarif Says

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran backed Palestinians more than Arab countries. He made the remarks at the Doha Forum in Qatar. Zarif said Iran has paid a heavy price for supporting groups in the region. He added that these groups pursue their own goals, not Iran’s. Despite Iran’s support, he said, many countries blame Iran for regional problems.

He criticized Arab nations for not helping Palestinians enough. Zarif said, “We supported Palestine more than any Arab country supported Palestine.” He emphasized that Iran acted to support the Arab cause. Zarif also spoke about U.S. sanctions imposed on him. He said the sanctions were unfair and resulted from Israeli requests. He asked why other Arab leaders do not face the same restrictions. He stressed that Iran backed Palestinians without seeking land or power.

He warned Israel not to miscalculate in future conflicts. Zarif said Israel misunderstood Iran’s strength and ability to respond. He added that Iran acts only in self-defense and will not attack unless provoked. During the forum, Zarif met with Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister Fuad Hussein. They discussed regional issues and the latest political developments in Iraq.

Zarif highlighted that Iran seeks cooperation with other countries. He said nations in the region benefit when Iran supports peace. He repeated that Iran backed Palestinians and will continue to do so while protecting its interests. He concluded that Iran seeks peace and stability. Zarif said Iran has no plans for aggression but will respond strongly if threatened. Zarif said Iran backed Palestinians, showing the country’s ongoing commitment to defending the region.
