Iran pistachio exports reached $730 million in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year. Dariush Salempour, head of the Non-Tropical Fruit Department at Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture, confirmed the figures. He explained that 100,000 tons of pistachio products were exported during this period. The products included pistachio with kernel, green pistachio kernel, and other related items.
These exports reached 67 countries, including 18 European Union member states. Main buyers included Turkey, India, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and China. According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, the total volume of 100,000 tons shows strong demand for the country’s pistachios across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Salempour compared these numbers with last year’s performance. In 2024, Iran shipped over 175,000 tons of pistachio products, generating $1.7 billion in revenue. While export volume dropped this year, the exports still contribute significantly to the economy. Officials emphasize that maintaining quality and production standards will keep Iran competitive in the global market. The government is supporting farmers and export initiatives to ensure sustainable growth.
Plans are underway to expand pistachio exports to additional countries in Europe and Asia. Authorities also aim to improve logistics and reduce shipping time to meet international demand faster. Experts say Iran pistachio exports play a key role in the livelihoods of farmers. The revenue from these exports helps fund agricultural projects and improves production techniques.
Iran continues to invest in modernizing pistachio processing facilities. These upgrades aim to produce higher-quality pistachios and meet the strict requirements of overseas markets. Overall, Iran pistachio exports remain a vital part of the country’s agricultural trade. They highlight Iran’s strong position in the global pistachio market and the steady demand from 67 countries worldwide. The future looks promising for pistachio farmers and exporters alike.
