Nine Iranian paddlers will compete in canoeing events as they seek to end a 16-year gold medal drought. In athletics, officials have established an ambitious target of winning 10 podium finishes.
In team sports, Iran’s national volleyball team enters the tournament as one of the leading contenders. Conversely, the under-23 football team faces difficult group opponents, including China, North Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
The 20th Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4 across the Aichi-Nagoya region. Consequently, Iranian athletes will face strong competition from leading sporting nations throughout the continent.
Iran’s delegation combines established champions, experienced competitors, and younger athletes seeking international recognition. Moreover, officials expect the country’s strongest sports to provide the largest share of medals.
