Iran and the United States reached a general agreement on key issues during recent nuclear talks in Geneva, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said. The agreement focuses on guiding principles that could form the foundation for a future deal. Sources close to the Iranian negotiating team reported that the talks were serious and both sides agreed on some issues in principle. After consulting with their governments, the delegations plan to continue more detailed discussions.

Officials also decided to schedule another round of talks to continue negotiations and work on a potential agreement. Araghchi, who led the Iranian team, described the discussions as constructive and positive. “We were able to reach some agreements on some issues in principle,” he said. He added that the process has begun and could lead to a formal agreement if both countries continue working together. The foreign minister noted that progress has improved compared to previous meetings.

The discussions concentrated solely on nuclear issues and did not cover other topics. Araghchi explained that moving from general principles to a full agreement will be more difficult. “Both sides have positions that will take time to get closer to each other,” he said. Drafting a complete agreement requires careful work. Each side must examine and compare its positions before finalizing a text. While officials have not set a date for the next round, the two sides will continue exchanging ideas and preparing potential texts.

Experts view the agreement on guiding principles as a significant step. They believe it shows both countries are serious about negotiating, even though challenges remain. Analysts note that the next rounds of talks will determine whether a full agreement is possible. Iran’s top negotiator expressed optimism about the process. He suggested that ongoing dialogue and careful negotiation could eventually produce a formal deal that addresses the main nuclear concerns of both countries. Continued communication and willingness to compromise will be essential to achieve lasting results.

The agreement on principles marks an important starting point for cooperation between the two countries. Observers note that the talks have reflected a constructive atmosphere, with both sides showing a genuine interest in addressing critical nuclear issues responsibly. If progress continues and both sides remain committed to dialogue, negotiating teams may be able to reach a full and detailed agreement in the near future. Such an outcome could help reduce tensions, build trust, and create a foundation for more stable relations moving forward.
