Iran peace efforts face a critical condition, Mohammad Aminnejad, Iran’s ambassador to France, declared. He stressed that negotiations must occur only if US-Israeli military aggression ceases under Iran’s terms. Aminnejad shared these remarks during an interview with France’s TF1 television channel.

The ambassador stressed that Iran did not start the war and fully exercises its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. Iranian forces and citizens remain prepared to protect the country’s territorial integrity against any threat. Aminnejad noted that dialogue for regional stability cannot continue while threats persist. He said peace initiatives must respect Iran’s conditions. Past attempts at diplomacy failed, especially in June 2025 and February 2026, when negotiations stopped due to military strikes.

He criticized Washington’s approach, questioning the sincerity of future talks. Aminnejad emphasized that Iran never opposed negotiations, but the desire for lasting peace must be proven. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the ambassador denied Iran blocked the strategic shipping route. Instead, he blamed instability on the US military presence and aggressive actions in the region. He highlighted Iran’s extensive Persian Gulf coastline as evidence of its stabilizing role.

Aminnejad also described the human costs of the conflict, noting more than 2,000 deaths and around 20,000 injuries. He framed these losses within a critique of American foreign policy, calling it a misguided attempt to export democracy to Iran. He addressed France’s position, acknowledging that nations act in their own interests. Aminnejad expressed disappointment that some European countries supported US-Israeli actions. He urged France, as a permanent UN Security Council member, to oppose unlawful aggression against Iran actively.

The ambassador reiterated that Iran considers no country its enemy and does not threaten any nation, including France. His comments make clear that Iran peace efforts remain tied to ending foreign military aggression. Analysts note that Tehran’s insistence on preconditions may influence European diplomatic strategies and the broader regional balance. Future negotiations must account for security guarantees and Iran’s strategic priorities.

Iran peace efforts remain a focal point in geopolitical discussions, signaling that resolving the conflict requires mutual recognition of sovereignty and security needs.
