The Pezhman Jamshidi case has taken a dramatic turn after his lawyer revealed that the charges could result in a death sentence. The well-known actor and former football player faces a serious accusation of rape, a charge that carries the death penalty under Iran’s Islamic Penal Code.

Lawyer Ali Mohammadzadeh confirmed that the charge brought against his client is zina bi’l-‘unf, meaning rape by force. He stated that this offense, under Article 224 of the penal code, is punishable by execution. Mohammadzadeh emphasized that there is no strong evidence supporting the claim against his client.

The Pezhman Jamshidi case became public when authorities detained him in late October following allegations from a young woman. She claimed the assault occurred after a professional meeting regarding a film project. Mohammadzadeh said Jamshidi was initially held in Ghezel Hesar Prison near Karaj, a facility known for housing death row inmates. He added that conditions there are extremely harsh.

Jamshidi was released on bail a few days later. Despite his ongoing case, he legally left Iran to visit family members abroad. In a statement, he denied all allegations, calling them fabricated and untrue. He pledged to comply with legal orders and return to Iran if summoned by the judiciary.

The woman who filed the complaint stated that she met Jamshidi while seeking opportunities in the film industry. She alleged that he invited her to a filming location and later to a private residence, where the assault occurred. She also claimed that medical examinations confirmed the attack.

However, Jamshidi has disputed her account, asserting that forensic results in the official file contradict her claims. He said he trusts the judiciary and will wait for the court’s decision. Legal experts say the Pezhman Jamshidi case highlights concerns about transparency and due process in high-profile prosecutions. They warn that premature conclusions could damage both the judicial system and public trust.

Public reaction remains divided. Some demand a fair investigation, while others criticize the speed at which information has spread online. As authorities continue their investigation, the Pezhman Jamshidi case will remain closely watched. The outcome could shape public discussions on justice, celebrity accountability, and the use of capital punishment in Iran.
