Iran’s South Pars gas platforms have completed their annual overhaul program and now operate at full capacity for the winter season. The major project aims to ensure uninterrupted gas supply as national energy demand increases sharply during cold months.

Touraj Dehghani, managing director of the Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), announced that maintenance on 35 offshore platforms finished successfully. He noted that the project focused on boosting efficiency, reliability, and safety across all production units.

Moreover, Dehghani explained that engineers replaced essential components and upgraded key systems to enhance operational stability. They also optimized performance to improve output across every platform. As a result, the South Pars complex now performs at peak capacity ahead of winter demand.

He added that the overhaul program aimed to prepare all facilities for consistent production during the high-consumption season. Therefore, the early completion gives Iran confidence in maintaining gas supplies for both households and industries.

The South Pars gas field provides about 70 percent of Iran’s total natural gas output. Consequently, it remains the cornerstone of the country’s energy network. Its production supports domestic heating needs, industrial operations, and export commitments. Reliable performance from South Pars is essential for sustaining economic and energy stability nationwide.

Dehghani also praised close collaboration between POGC and the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Through continuous coordination, teams managed to perform maintenance while keeping gas delivery steady. This achievement reflects Iran’s growing technical expertise and effective project management in offshore operations.

In addition, energy analysts believe this overhaul strengthens Iran’s readiness for winter. They argue that preventive maintenance reduces the risk of supply shortages and ensures long-term operational security. Furthermore, the initiative demonstrates Iran’s ability to manage large-scale offshore projects with precision and safety.

Located in the Persian Gulf, the South Pars gas field is the world’s largest natural gas reservoir. Iran shares it with Qatar and continues to expand production capacity through new development phases. Looking ahead, officials expect stable performance from all platforms as the country enters the peak-demand season with full readiness.
