The Iran U.S. Memorandum entered into force after President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian formally signed the document, marking a significant diplomatic development between the two countries. The agreement represents an important step toward reducing tensions while creating a framework for future negotiations on broader issues.

According to officials familiar with the process, both leaders approved the finalized text after earlier signatures from senior representatives. As a result, the document now carries direct presidential endorsement from both governments. Furthermore, officials confirmed that the agreement became effective immediately following the final signatures.

A White House official explained that Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf previously signed the document through a digital process earlier in the week. Subsequently, both presidents completed the final stage by adding their signatures to the published version of the memorandum.

President Trump attended an official dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday evening when reports emerged that the signing process had concluded. Consequently, attention shifted toward the next phase of diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.

In Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that both sides agreed the memorandum should carry the signatures of the presidents themselves. He noted that discussions regarding a planned diplomatic gathering in Switzerland remain active. However, officials continue consultations through mediators before making final decisions regarding upcoming meetings.

Baghaei indicated that leaders wanted stronger political commitments attached to the agreement. Therefore, presidential signatures were viewed as a way to increase accountability and strengthen confidence in future implementation efforts.

The Iran U.S. Memorandum arrives after years of strained relations between the two countries. Although diplomatic contacts have periodically occurred, major disagreements over security, regional influence, sanctions, and nuclear-related issues have continued to shape bilateral relations. Nevertheless, recent negotiations created momentum for renewed dialogue and practical confidence-building measures.

Political analysts suggest the agreement could provide a foundation for additional talks in the coming months. Furthermore, many observers believe structured engagement may reduce misunderstandings and create opportunities for addressing long-standing disputes through diplomatic channels.

At the same time, experts caution that significant challenges remain. While the memorandum establishes a framework for cooperation, both governments must still navigate complex political and strategic differences. Therefore, future negotiations will likely determine the long-term impact of the agreement.

Looking ahead, attention will focus on planned diplomatic meetings and the launch of follow-up discussions. If both sides maintain momentum, the Iran U.S. Memorandum could become an important reference point for future engagement between Tehran and Washington. As negotiations continue, officials from both countries are expected to outline additional steps aimed at advancing dialogue and expanding areas of cooperation.
