Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyed Badr Al-Busaid held an important phone conversation on Tuesday afternoon. The two top diplomats focused their discussion on the newly finalized Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. This significant diplomatic breakthrough aims to conclude months of intense military conflict in the Middle East.

During the extensive call, the ministers analyzed how the temporary peace framework impacts security across the region. Oman historically plays a vital mediator role between Western nations and Islamic Republic officials. Consequently, Muscat remains a crucial partner for verifying the maritime and geographic terms outlined in the agreement.

Both representatives emphasized the immediate need to foster long-term regional stability through closer bilateral ties. They reviewed plans to ensure safe commercial shipping through the strategic Strait of Hormuz waterway. According to official ministry reports, the neighboring countries intend to release a comprehensive joint statement regarding maritime traffic.

Beyond security concerns, the diplomats discussed expanding mutual cooperation in cultural, economic, and political fields. They affirmed that historical similarities and good neighborliness serve as the foundation for their deep partnership. Analysts note that economic incentives, including a proposed private investment fund, depend heavily on maintaining this cooperative atmosphere.

The temporary pact requires both major combatants to halt active warfare across multiple fronts, including Lebanon. Furthermore, the memorandum institutes a sixty-day window for negotiators to hammer out a final, permanent treaty. This upcoming phase will address highly complex issues like anti-Iran naval blockades and frozen financial assets.

Concluding the call, Araghchi and Al-Busaid agreed to sustain high-level consultations as the Friday signing date approaches. They stressed that continuous regional stability depends on all signatory parties honoring their initial commitments. Both nations plan to coordinate closely with international observers to ensure the diplomatic process moves forward smoothly. Government representatives from both states will meet again next week to draft the formal implementation schedules. This highly anticipated meeting will determine the specific timelines for reducing naval forces in disputed international waters.
