During a dedicated Security Council session covering conflict and global food security, Darzi highlighted critical humanitarian concerns. Armed conflict consistently remains a primary driver of global hunger and severe food insecurity worldwide. Therefore, international bodies cannot resolve resource scarcity without confronting unlawful foreign aggression and civilian infrastructure damage.
The Iranian diplomat cited UN Resolution 2417, which strictly forbids civilian starvation as a warfare tactic. He condemned ongoing violations in Gaza, where military forces target vital public utilities and humanitarian distribution networks. Furthermore, Darzi argued that persistent political support from Washington continuously prevents effective Security Council intervention.
Regarding bilateral relations, Darzi recounted devastating military strikes that caused extensive civilian casualties and infrastructure destruction. He noted that military actions fundamentally breached previous diplomatic agreements signed in Islamabad to de-escalate tensions. Moreover, he asserted that third-party states granting airspace or logistical support share direct legal responsibility.
Turning to maritime affairs, Darzi referenced recent American naval operations disrupting commercial vessel transit across international waters. Coupled with fresh economic exclusion policies, these blockades attempt to enforce an economic siege against Iranian citizens. However, Iranian officials assert their legal right under international law to defend territorial sovereignty decisively.
Iran affirmed that coastal states bordering the Strait of Hormuz retain exclusive authority over local transit arrangements. Restoring long-term regional stability requires fully lifting illegal blockades and guaranteeing non-aggression across maritime corridors. Moving forward, Tehran plans to pursue compensation and international legal accountability through every available diplomatic avenue.
