Attorney Mohammad Najafi, an Iranian lawyer, will serve three years in prison and face other penalties. The court also limits his political activities. The Tehran Revolutionary Court informed Najafi’s lawyers about the verdict on November 19, 2025. Judge Iman Afshari led the case in Branch 26.

The court sentenced Najafi to one year for “propaganda against the regime.” It also gave him two years and a 50-million-toman fine for “spreading falsehoods.” He cannot join political or social groups and cannot leave Iran for two years. Najafi published an audio file called “Tasmim-e Kobra,” addressed to the Supreme Leader. The court cited this as evidence for the charges.

Najafi skipped the court hearing on November 5, 2025. Earlier, the High Disciplinary Court for Judges banned him permanently from practicing law. Prison authorities moved Najafi from Arak Prison to Evin Prison in April 2023. In 2019, the authorities released him but arrested him again four days later. He returned to Arak Prison after another conviction.

Najafi faced multiple legal cases over the years. The longest sentence involved “collaboration with a hostile government” through interviews with foreign media. The court first gave him ten years, then reduced it to four years and six months.

He faced fourteen charges and received over 24 years in prison. The authorities have not combined the sentences. Prison officials opened at least six cases against him during his imprisonment. One case involved publishing audio files from Arak Prison. Another case, triggered by a prison complaint, led to a four-month sentence.

Najafi has health problems but authorities have denied him proper medical care or hospital visits. He continues to serve his sentences under strict conditions. Attorney Najafi remains a key figure in Iranian legal and political news. His case shows the risks lawyers face in Iran. Authorities continue to enforce legal and political restrictions on Attorney Najafi, highlighting serious human rights concerns.
