The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, donated 50 billion rials to help free needy prisoners convicted of unintentional crimes. Through this donation, he supported a humanitarian effort that gives prisoners hope and helps their families cope with hardship. Ahead of a major annual fundraising event, Khamenei announced the contribution. Each year, the event takes place during the holy month of Ramadan. The Diya Headquarters organizes the program. In particular, the group focuses on freeing prisoners who cannot pay blood money or legal compensation for unintentional offenses.

Every year, fundraising ceremonies take place in Tehran and other cities across Iran. During these events, officials, charity workers, and donors gather to help. As a result, they provide financial support to prisoners in need. Ultimately, the organizers aim to collect enough funds to release inmates who remain in jail only because of poverty. This year, Khamenei’s donation stood out as one of the largest contributions. With this support, many prisoners will regain their freedom. In turn, families will reunite after long periods of separation. At the same time, the donation will reduce emotional stress and financial pressure on households.

Meanwhile, Ramadan holds deep meaning for Muslims around the world. It is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. During this time, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. In addition, they focus on prayer, reflection, and self-discipline. Above all, charity plays a central role in the holy month. For this reason, helping people in need stands at the heart of Ramadan values. Supporting needy prisoners reflects these principles. Moreover, such actions promote compassion and strengthen social unity. They also show care for vulnerable members of society.

In Iran, many people view support for prisoners of unintentional crimes as a moral duty. Often, accidents and financial disputes lead to imprisonment. However, many prisoners lack the money to resolve their cases. Therefore, charity donations help correct this problem and balance justice with mercy. Overall, the annual fundraising event highlights a strong culture of solidarity during Ramadan. Through continued efforts, organizers hope to raise public awareness. At the same time, they encourage more people to take part in helping those in need.
