The Larijani martyrdom has triggered official mourning across Iran’s political and cultural institutions.
Culture Minister Seyed Abbas Salehi issued a condolence message after the reported assassination of Ali Larijani. He described the incident as a terrorist attack involving Israel and the United States.
The announcement intensified already rising tensions between Iran and its regional adversaries.

Ali Larijani served as a senior Iranian statesman with a long public career. He previously led the national parliament and directed Iran’s state broadcasting organization. Recently, he held a security leadership role within Iran’s national security structure. Officials and supporters viewed him as a central figure in policy and culture debates.

Furthermore, in his statement, the minister praised Larijani’s intellectual and political contributions. He highlighted Larijani’s years of service in cultural and media institutions. He also expressed condolences to the families of other victims killed in the same strike. According to officials, the attack also killed Larijani’s son during the incident.

However, reports from Tehran indicated that the strike occurred during coordinated military operations. Authorities claimed the operation involved Israeli and United States forces. Iranian officials stated that the attack resulted in significant civilian and leadership losses. Some reports estimate over one thousand casualties across multiple locations.

Following the incident, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched immediate counterstrikes. Iranian forces targeted locations associated with Israel and the United States military assets. Military sources said the response involved coordinated missile and drone operations. The escalation occurred within hours of the initial strike.

The Larijani martyrdom has therefore deepened regional instability and diplomatic strain. Iranian leaders have pledged continued resistance and stronger defensive measures. Officials argue that such attacks will not weaken internal political cohesion. Instead, they expect increased national unity in response to external pressure.

Overall, analysts believe the situation could expand into a broader regional confrontation. Diplomatic channels remain strained, and no immediate de-escalation appears likely. International observers continue to monitor military movements across the region. Future developments may depend on mediation efforts and battlefield responses.
