Zero restraint now guides Iran’s military response. Consequently, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched large retaliatory strikes today. These attacks targeted US-owned petrochemical sites in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the IRGC hit a container ship linked to Israel. The operation began at dawn. It used ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and suicide drones. The IRGC named the action “Wave 99.” They then issued a clear warning, any future attacks on Iranian infrastructure will face zero restraint.
The IRGC’s Naval and Aerospace forces conducted the strikes. For example, they used the holy code “Ya Fatimah al-Zahra (SA).” The statement dedicated the attack to Jewish and Christian martyrs of past wars. Iran acted after an enemy assault on its Asaluyeh petrochemical plants. That assault killed hundreds of Iranian civilians. Moreover, it destroyed energy facilities. The United States and Israel started their aggression on February 28. They assassinated Iran’s top leader and senior commanders. As a result, Iran says the enemy crossed all red lines.
In the first attack phase, the IRGC hit the Jubail region of Saudi Arabia. Specifically, they struck the largest US-owned petrochemical complexes there. These include plants operated by Sadara, ExxonMobil, and Dow Chemical. Another strike hit a Chevron Phillips plant in Ju’aymah, Saudi Arabia. Medium-range missiles and drones caused significant damage. Additionally, the IRGC targeted a container ship near Khor Fakkan port in the UAE. That ship tried to move military gear overland to Israel, it wanted to avoid the Strait of Hormuz. Therefore, Iranian forces hit the vessel with precision. The IRGC calls this a stark warning to all ships cooperating with the U.S. or Israel.
Iran also fired long-range naval cruise missiles. For instance, they targeted the U.S. aircraft carrier strike group “CVN 72” deep in the Indian Ocean. The IRGC statement said American leaders cannot calculate which assets are in their crosshairs. “If America’s army crosses our red lines, our response will go beyond the region,” the IRGC warned. However, they added that Iran never starts attacks on civilian targets. Instead, they will retaliate in kind against any strikes on civilian facilities.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned it could target U.S. and allied infrastructure, including regional oil and gas assets, signaling an end to its earlier restraint after threats from Donald Trump to strike Iranian facilities, while analysts say Iran’s recent strikes have already imposed significant costs and increased risks to energy markets and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
