The civilian casualty toll now includes 258 women and 221 minors. Iran’s Emergency Organization head Majid Miadfar announced these figures on Sunday. The U.S. and Israel started this military campaign on February 28. The attack assassinated Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It also killed several senior military commanders.
Among the dead, 18 children were under five years old. Furthermore, 168 schoolgirls died in Minab city. They attended Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school. The southern Iranian city of Minab saw this tragedy. Additionally, 4,993 women suffered injuries. Over 2,115 people under 18 also got wounded.
The data shows 124 children under five sustained injuries. Another 70 infants under two were hurt too. Most injuries occurred in Tehran province. Other hard-hit regions include Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Kermanshah. Ilam and Isfahan provinces also recorded many casualties.
The health sector has suffered enormous damage. Consequently, 400 medical facilities have been struck. The attacks also damaged 57 emergency bases. Moreover, 47 ambulances are no longer operational. Two air ambulances and one sea ambulance sustained severe damage. Health workers have paid a heavy price. Twenty-six of them have died. Another 118 have sustained injuries. Among those wounded, 78 were treating civilians on site.
This unprovoked aggression began despite ongoing nuclear talks. Tehran and Washington were negotiating Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. Nevertheless, the U.S. and Israel launched intensive strikes. They targeted both military installations and civilian facilities. The attacks caused widespread infrastructure damage.
Iran’s armed forces launched a forceful retaliation. They fired waves of missiles and drones. These strikes hit U.S. interests across West Asia. They also targeted Israeli positions in occupied territories. The conflict shows no sign of de-escalation.
The civilian casualty toll will likely increase further. Rescue workers still search through rubble. Many wounded remain in critical condition. International aid agencies have not accessed affected areas. Iran has called for UN intervention. Regional tensions continue to rise as well. The full extent of damage may take weeks to assess. Medical facilities face severe supply shortages. Children remain the most vulnerable victims in this conflict.
