Education officials in Iran have announced that schools stay closed for an extended period. The Ministry of Education confirmed this decision recently. It applies to every public and private school nationwide. Students will continue remote learning during this time.

The ministry will decide about May classes at a later time. Officials say they need to review national conditions first. They also require approvals from higher authorities. Therefore, the ministry cannot act alone on this matter.

Hossein Sadeghi leads the ministry’s public relations center. He confirmed that the National Security Council holds the final authority. Consequently, the ministry will follow the council’s guidance. No independent decision will come from the education ministry alone.

Sadeghi added one important condition for returning to normal. He said in-person classes will resume only when the country reaches a stable situation. Furthermore, the ministry must guarantee safety for both students and teachers. These two factors remain the top priorities for any reopening.

All educational activities will stay online. This rule applies to government-run schools as well. Private institutions must also follow the same guidelines. The ministry has not granted any exceptions so far.

This decision extends previous closures from earlier this year. Many parents have grown concerned about learning loss. Teachers have also reported challenges with virtual instruction. Internet connectivity remains uneven across different provinces. Rural areas face more difficulties than urban centers.

Education experts point to long-term risks. Prolonged remote learning can hurt student performance. Social development also suffers without classroom interaction. Nevertheless, officials prioritize physical safety above academic concerns.

The ministry plans to evaluate the situation every week. It will consult with health and security authorities regularly. A final decision for May will come in late April. Parents should prepare for possible continued remote learning.

Students must log into online platforms daily. Teachers will post assignments and hold virtual sessions. The government has not extended the academic year yet. However, many insiders expect adjustments to the final exam schedule.

The broader implication reaches beyond education. Extended school closures affect the economy too. Parents cannot work freely while children stay home. Businesses near schools also lose customers. Thus, this decision carries significant social and financial weight.

The ministry urges patience from families. It promises clear communication about any changes. Meanwhile, schools stay closed across the nation. The country awaits clearer security assessments. The coming weeks will determine if May brings students back to classrooms.
