Iran schools officially opened their new academic year with a lively ceremony in Tehran. President Massoud Pezeshkian attended and rang the bell at a girls’ school. The event welcomed nearly 16 million students back to classrooms across the country. This year, Iran schools focus on expanding access, improving teaching quality, and supporting equitable education nationwide.

Students will attend lessons in 123,000 schools and 665,000 classes. Over nine million students will study in primary education. Meanwhile, nearly seven million students will learn in secondary schools, technical programs, and vocational centers. Authorities also enroll more than 1.4 million students in 8,000 vocational high schools. The government aims to provide more learning opportunities for all students, especially in rural and underdeveloped areas.

The Ministry of Education emphasized this year’s theme: “Expanding Educational Justice for Iran – For Schools.” This theme promotes equal opportunities and eliminates under-resourced classrooms. Officials will ensure teachers cover every classroom. The government will hire additional teachers to support students across the country. In addition, teacher training programs will improve classroom engagement and learning outcomes.

Authorities also completed 2,400 new educational facilities and are constructing another 7,700. Schools will open later this month. Meanwhile, the government renovated 110,000 classrooms to create better learning environments. Charitable donors funded nearly 60 percent of new schools built over the past three years. These contributions highlight the active role of communities in supporting Iran schools.

Officials further plan to upgrade learning experiences. They will provide modern teaching programs, advanced learning tools, and technology to support digital education. Students will access resources for interactive learning and skills development. Authorities also aim to expand vocational training opportunities to prepare students for future careers.

Parents and local communities welcomed the return of students with enthusiasm. Many expressed hope that the new academic year will strengthen student learning. By hiring more teachers, renovating classrooms, and expanding access, Iran schools will provide equitable opportunities for all students. Additionally, schools will organize extracurricular activities to support creativity, teamwork, and personal development.

Overall, the start of the new school year demonstrates Iran’s strong commitment to improving access and quality. With nearly 16 million students returning to classrooms, authorities expect this year to set a strong example for education in the country. Iran schools now combine modern facilities, trained teachers, and community support to ensure students succeed academically.
