Tensions have escalated sharply in the Persian Gulf. Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warns of its unseen military power. The IRGC says it did not use full force in recent attacks. Those strikes targeted US and Israeli assets. Tehran now threatens to reveal new capabilities. These could exceed anything the enemy imagines.
A senior IRGC spokesman made the statement. He first confirmed that Iran has not yet used all its capabilities. He then added a stark warning. If the war continues, Iran will unveil new warfare tactics. The enemy cannot counter them, he claimed.
Iran’s Defense Ministry similarly agrees with this assessment. A ministry spokesman further confirmed the armed forces replenished strategic reserves. This specifically includes missiles and drones. The ministry keeps logistical support active. It aligns with boosting defense power, he explained.
The recent conflict previously lasted 40 days. Fighting thus engulfed the entire region. Iran and the US eventually agreed to a two-week ceasefire. A third country successfully mediated the pause. The goal allowed diplomacy for a permanent end. Nevertheless, the region remains on edge again.
Senior Iranian and American negotiators recently left talks without a deal. They held 21 hours of intense discussions. Still, no breakthrough emerged. Iranian officials instead blamed excessive U.S. demands. Two major stumbling blocks consequently caused the failure. One specifically involves Iran’s right to enrich uranium. Another notably concerns free transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran previously placed restrictions on the strait. This response immediately followed U.S. and Israeli strikes. Tehran thus effectively blocks shipping linked to its aggressors and allies. Maritime data currently shows traffic through the strait has dropped to a trickle. Normally, this waterway handles one fifth of global oil supplies. As a result, energy prices have soared. Consequently, the global economy feels the strain.
The U.S. president then declared a total blockade. The blockade specifically applies to all vessels going to or from Iranian ports. He furthermore warned that any military ship trying to break the blockade will face elimination. This unfortunately raises the specter of renewed hostilities. The current ceasefire has not even finished its course.
Iran’s armed forces immediately called the U.S. restrictions illegal. They strongly labeled the move piracy. The IRGC meanwhile warned any warships approaching the strait would violate the fragile ceasefire. The Iranian military subsequently issued another threat. Any attack on Iranian ports will ultimately trigger a broader regional response. For this reason, no port in the Persian Gulf or the Sea of Oman would remain secure.
A U.S. military command recently announced the start of its blockade. It broadly applies to all Iranian Persian Gulf ports and coastal areas. A British maritime agency similarly confirmed receiving warnings. The blockade therefore covers all vessel traffic regardless of flag. Both sides now prepare for possible escalation. Diplomacy unfortunately remains stalled. The world still watches the strait closely. Any spark could finally break the ceasefire. Iran’s unseen military power may then face a real test.
