Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf described the recent events in Iran as a coordinated terrorist war. The attacks targeted civilians, security forces, and volunteers, causing widespread fear. Experts say this terrorist war reflects tactics used in other regional conflicts. Qalibaf compared the attacks to Israel’s pager bombings in Lebanon in September 2024. On September 17, thousands of communication devices belonging to Hezbollah members exploded simultaneously. The attacks killed at least 12 people and injured roughly 3,000, mostly civilians. Israeli authorities openly claimed responsibility for the bombings, which were described as indiscriminate and deliberately planned to maximize chaos.

Speaking at a Parliament session on Monday, Qalibaf explained that the Iranian attacks involved organized violence, armed assaults, civil unrest, and the killing of several thousand people. He emphasized that the plan aimed to spread fear, undermine public trust, and weaken national resilience. The ultimate goal, according to him, was to create conditions for foreign intervention. Qalibaf stressed that Iran responded swiftly despite the scale of the threat. He highlighted the efficiency of security forces and volunteers in restoring order. Few countries, he noted, could recover so quickly from such brutal and organized terrorism. Officials pointed to direct support from foreign leaders as a contributing factor to the unrest.

The parliament speaker linked the recent incidents to a 12-day conflict in mid-June, which involved U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran. He cited remarks from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stating that foreign interference fueled sedition and insecurity. Qalibaf described these actions as an attempt to destabilize the country and intimidate its population. Analysts note that this terrorist war underscores growing regional tensions. It also highlights Iran’s preparedness in countering sudden and complex security threats. International observers point out that attacks targeting civilians can escalate diplomatic and military tensions.

Moving forward, authorities are expected to enhance intelligence operations and strengthen public awareness campaigns. Parliament officials emphasize that national unity remains critical. They also warn that any further foreign support for such attacks will face decisive Iranian responses. The resilience of security forces, volunteers, and government institutions will remain central to preventing future incidents. The recent terrorist war has therefore drawn attention to Iran’s ability to maintain stability under severe pressure. Officials reaffirm that organized attacks cannot undermine national security or public confidence. Analysts suggest continued vigilance and coordination across multiple agencies will be crucial in coming months.
