More than 10,000 Iranian athletes called for the suspension of the United States and Israeli teams. The Iranian athletes’ appeal follows recent military attacks that caused heavy civilian casualties and damaged sports facilities. The athletes submitted a letter on Tuesday to the United Nations, International Olympic Committee, International Paralympic Committee, UNESCO, and UNICEF. They demanded that these organizations prevent U.S. and Israeli teams from competing internationally.

The letter stressed that civilians, including children and athletes, suffered during the attacks. The Iranian athletes’ appeal highlighted the tragedy at Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, where 165 children died. The letter reported that dozens of athletes, including child gymnasts and skaters, were killed. It also noted the destruction of more than 20 sports complexes across the country. Officials confirmed that prominent athletes delivered the letter through Iran’s foreign ministry. The signatories represented multiple sports disciplines.

They expressed their determination to defend the Iranian people and to oppose ongoing aggression. The letter emphasized that international sports organizations must act to protect human rights. It called for the immediate suspension of the U.S. and Israeli teams until peace is restored. Experts say the appeal could increase global attention on the conflict and pressure sports organizations to respond. If committees act, it could lead to historic bans and spark broader debates on ethics in sports governance.

The Iranian athletes’ appeal reflects a societal demand for justice and civilian protection. Observers expect international investigations and humanitarian measures may follow. As the situation evolves, sports bodies face growing pressure to review memberships and participation rules. The athletes pledged to continue advocating for the Iranian nation and urging global support for human rights.
