Iranian universities’ online learning continues amid ongoing military threats, affecting education across the country. The Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology announced that all universities will deliver courses online until the end of next month. Officials made this decision after continuous military strikes from the United States and Israel over the past eight days. University administrators confirmed that online learning will cover all academic programs, from undergraduate to postgraduate studies.

The ministry emphasized that this shift will protect students and faculty while maintaining education quality. A spokesperson stated, “Given the security situation and ongoing attacks, moving to online learning is essential for safety and continuity.” The ministry acted after the first week of military escalation, which began on February 28, 2026. During this period, U.S. and Israeli strikes targeted Iranian military bases, air defense systems, and command centers in multiple cities.

Officials warned students not to share information about military installations. They stated that unauthorized video recordings could threaten national security. Authorities also accused foreign forces of targeting civilian areas, reinforcing the need for remote learning. Experts note that the online transition could accelerate digital infrastructure in Iranian higher education. Universities are implementing virtual classrooms, online libraries, and remote exams. Administrators are also training faculty to manage large-scale online courses efficiently.

The shift to Iranian universities online may influence neighboring countries’ higher education strategies, particularly during geopolitical tensions. Officials believe that maintaining uninterrupted learning supports national stability and keeps academic progress on track. Education leaders plan to review conditions regularly and restore on-campus instruction only when authorities confirm safety.

Meanwhile, students continue attending virtual lectures and completing assignments through secure platforms. The Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology emphasized that Iranian universities’ online learning ensures both safety and educational continuity. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to adapt quickly as circumstances evolve.
