Iran’s Foreign Ministry has rejected Western claims about protecting global energy market stability. Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei issued a strong statement on Sunday about rising regional tensions. He described Western discussions about energy security as a misleading narrative. Baghaei said these claims are being used to justify military aggression in the region. He also labeled the narrative a “new grand lie” promoted by Western governments.
The comments come after months of growing military activity involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Washington and its allies have repeatedly defended naval deployments near key maritime routes. Western officials argue these operations are necessary to secure international trade and energy supplies. Tehran strongly disagrees with that position. Iranian officials say foreign military forces are increasing instability rather than reducing tensions.
Baghaei argued that Western governments are presenting military pressure as a stabilizing effort. He claimed outside powers first create crises and then justify further intervention in the name of peace and security. According to the spokesman, these actions are damaging commercial shipping routes and threatening regional stability. Iranian authorities insist that local countries can manage maritime security without foreign involvement.
Economic concerns are also growing as tensions rise across the region. Analysts report that shipping insurance costs have increased sharply in recent weeks. Energy companies and commodity traders are closely watching developments around the Strait of Hormuz. The narrow waterway carries nearly twenty percent of global petroleum supplies. Experts warn that any major disruption there could push oil prices higher and increase inflation worldwide.
Baghaei also referenced historical writings during his remarks. He quoted the Roman historian Tacitus while criticizing Western military policies. The spokesman said some powers create destruction while claiming to defend peace. His comments highlighted the deepening ideological divide between Tehran and Western governments.
Officials in Washington and Jerusalem have not directly responded to Baghaei’s latest accusations. However, previous statements from Western governments describe current naval operations as defensive measures designed to protect global trade routes. Despite ongoing diplomatic contacts through intermediaries, tensions remain high. International observers continue urging all sides to avoid further escalation that could trigger a broader regional conflict.
