President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke with Iraq’s prime minister-designate on Tuesday. He said Iran rejects language of threats and bullying from the United States. Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the phone call from Tehran. The two leaders discussed challenges from the US-Israeli war. Therefore, Iran rejects language of threats while staying open to dialogue.
Pezeshkian said Iran is ready for dialogue within international law. However, he stressed that Iran will never submit to coercion. The president added that logical discussion is possible with Washington. But threats and bullying will lead nowhere. Iran rejects language of threats as a matter of principle.
The U.S. and Israel started their aerial aggression on February 28. Iran responded swiftly with missile and drone attacks. These strikes targeted Israeli territories and US bases. A temporary ceasefire took effect on April 8. However, peace talks in Islamabad failed later.
Washington made maximalist demands during those negotiations. The U.S. also insisted on unreasonable positions throughout. President Trump continues to threaten military aggression against Iran. He also refuses to lift the naval blockade on Iranian ports. Iran rejects language of threats while maintaining its defensive posture.
Iran has called the U.S. blockade an act of piracy. Tehran warned that no port will be safe if threatened. Pezeshkian stressed that Iran wants good relations with Arab neighbors. He said Iran does not seek conflict with regional brothers.
American bases in some Arab countries bombed Iranian schools and hospitals. Those countries allowed the U.S. to use their space and facilities. Pezeshkian called for unity among Muslim nations. He believes following a just path removes reasons for disagreement.
The president congratulated al-Zaidi on his new position in Iraq. Tehran stands ready to strengthen cooperation with its brotherly neighbor. For his part, al-Zaidi vowed to enhance relations with Iran. He mentioned economic, political, security, and regional convergence fields.
Al-Zaidi also expressed Baghdad’s readiness to host Iran-US negotiations. Iraq wants to help end the war through mediation. He said Iran’s power supports all Muslims and Shias. Iraq will never accept that power being taken away.
This Iranian power helped Iraq fight against extremist groups previously. Iraq needs Iran’s support, al-Zaidi stated. Iran’s strength is Iraq’s strength, he added. Conversely, Iran’s weakness would become Iraq’s weakness. The Iranian president agreed with this assessment.
The coming weeks may see Iraq offering to mediate new talks. Iran remains open to logical dialogue with Washington. However, the U.S. must change its approach first. Iran rejects language of threats as a prerequisite for any negotiation. Both sides remain far apart on key issues.
