Iran’s UN envoy Amir-Saeid Iravani addressed the Security Council on Wednesday. He stated, clearly, that Israel remains a persistent serious threat to peace. The envoy cited, specifically, Tel Aviv’s ceasefire violations and civilian infrastructure attacks. He called for, therefore, a unified response to address regional instability. This persistent serious threat requires, after all, collective action from all member states.

The Iranian envoy delivered a detailed statement before the council. Gaza remains, unfortunately, devastated and under siege currently. The Israeli government continues, however, to violate the existing ceasefire. Military attacks and restricted humanitarian access worsen, consequently, civilian suffering. Therefore, this persistent serious threat demands, indeed, immediate international attention.

Illegal settlement expansion continues, similarly, in the West Bank. These actions violate, clearly, international law and UN resolutions. The occupation becomes, thereby, further entrenched through these activities. Iran supports, for instance, any credible efforts to end Palestinian suffering. A durable and permanent ceasefire remains, after all, essential for any solution.

The Iranian envoy demanded, specifically, full withdrawal of occupying forces. Unhindered humanitarian access must reach, likewise, all affected areas. The Palestinian people have, indeed, an inalienable right to self-determination. Accountability for war crimes remains, therefore, imperative according to the envoy. Those responsible for grave breaches must, consequently, face justice.

Israel’s aggression extends, moreover, beyond Palestinian territory the envoy said. The government continues, unfortunately, violating international law across the region. Repeated destabilizing actions occur, for example, in Syrian territory as well. The illegal occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights continues, similarly. Persistent sovereignty violations affect, also, Lebanon’s territorial integrity.

The Security Council must act, therefore, decisively the envoy urged. Israel must, accordingly, fully uphold the ceasefire in Lebanon. All attacks against civilians must stop, immediately, without any delay. Israeli occupying forces must withdraw, completely, from Lebanese territory. The persistent serious threat requires, consequently, firm council action.

The U.S. and Israel launched, unfortunately, an unprovoked war on February 28. This aggression targeted, specifically, Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The attack violated, clearly, international law and the prohibition on force. The aggressors targeted, deliberately, civilian infrastructure across Iran. A girls’ school in Minab suffered, for instance, destruction in one attack.

That attack killed, tragically, more than 168 students the envoy reported. At least 3,375 civilians have died, sadly, since February 28. More than 700 educational institutions sustained, moreover, damage as well. Healthcare and cultural facilities also came, similarly, under attack. Critical industrial infrastructure faced, consequently, targeting from airstrikes.

The United States and Israeli government must bear, therefore, full responsibility. Individual criminal responsibility for war crimes must be pursued, accordingly. International law requires, indeed, accountability for these grave violations. The Security Council cannot ignore, however, these breaches the envoy said. Justice must prevail, after all, for all victims of this aggression.

Security in the West Asia region remains, notably, indivisible the envoy stated. Regional security is, deeply, interdependent across all countries. Achieving genuine collective security requires, consequently, a unified response. The main source of instability is, clearly, the Israeli government. This persistent serious threat endangers, therefore, both regional and global peace.

The Iranian envoy rejected, categorically, baseless allegations against Iran. Some delegations attempted, unfortunately, to ignore the root causes. They deflected blame, instead, onto Iran rather than addressing US actions. The unlawful and destabilizing U.S. policies continue, similarly, causing problems. Israel’s representative lacks, consequently, standing to lecture other nations the envoy said.

The Security Council now faces, indeed, a critical decision point. Member states must choose, ultimately, between action and inaction. The persistent serious threat will not, however, resolve itself. International peace depends, after all, on accountability for violations. The coming weeks will test, therefore, the council’s resolve.
