Mazandaran province in northern Iran has reported a surge in citrus exports, highlighting the region’s agricultural strength. Officials confirmed that citrus exports, including oranges, tangerines, and kiwi fruits, exceeded 60,000 tons in the first nine months of the Iranian calendar year. This increase reflects the province’s growing role in supplying international markets with high-quality horticultural products. Asadollah Teymouri Yansari, head of Mazandaran’s Agricultural Jihad Organization, stated that the exports targeted countries such as India, Eurasian nations, and Persian Gulf littoral states. He emphasized that citrus exports have become a strategic source of revenue for local farmers and provincial trade.

Specifically, the province shipped more than 25,000 tons of kiwi during this period. Tangerines accounted for over 10,000 tons, while oranges topped 24,000 tons. Teymouri Yansari noted that Eurasian countries and Persian Gulf states remain the most significant markets for these products. The export performance reflects several factors, including favorable climate conditions, improved production techniques, and strategic logistics planning. Local farmers have increasingly adopted modern cultivation methods, which have enhanced both fruit quality and yield. Consequently, Mazandaran’s citrus exports now meet growing international demand.

Officials also highlighted that these exports contribute to Iran’s broader economic objectives. By diversifying trade partners and focusing on agricultural output, the country aims to strengthen foreign revenue streams amid fluctuating global markets. Teymouri Yansari added that the province continues to prioritize export-oriented farming initiatives to maintain sustainable growth. Industry experts noted that the success of citrus exports could encourage further investments in cold storage, transportation infrastructure, and export promotion campaigns. They stressed that expanding into new markets could further enhance Mazandaran’s position as a key regional supplier of fruits.

Looking ahead, provincial authorities plan to support farmers with better access to technology, financial incentives, and international trade agreements. These measures aim to increase production efficiency and ensure that citrus exports continue to grow steadily in the coming years. Overall, Mazandaran’s focus on citrus exports demonstrates the province’s commitment to strengthening its agricultural sector. By combining strategic planning, modern techniques, and international outreach, officials aim to secure long-term growth and solidify the province’s reputation as a leading exporter.
