The second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States is set to begin on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. local time in Geneva, Switzerland. Officials in Tehran will follow the talks at 11:30 a.m. local time. The meetings will take place at the Embassy of Oman in Geneva and mark another stage in ongoing efforts to resolve nuclear disputes.

Iran’s delegation is led by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. The team also includes the political deputy, the deputy for legal and international affairs, the deputy for economic diplomacy, and the Foreign Ministry spokesperson. Technical, legal, and economic experts are supporting the negotiators during the discussions. They will provide advice on technical and legal matters and help shape Iran’s negotiating position.

Iranian officials have emphasized that the talks will focus exclusively on nuclear-related issues. They insist that the United States lift sanctions, which Tehran considers unlawful. The Iranian delegation has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing uranium enrichment as part of the country’s nuclear program. These positions reflect Iran’s broader strategy to maintain its nuclear capabilities while seeking relief from international sanctions.

This round follows previous attempts to revive the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly known as the JCPOA. Both sides are trying to reach a framework that addresses critical disagreements. Earlier talks stalled over compliance, verification measures, and the extent of sanctions relief. Observers say these issues remain the main obstacles to a final agreement.

Analysts note that the Geneva talks could influence the future of Iran-US relations. Progress may affect regional security, trade, and diplomatic alignments across the Middle East. Many see the negotiations as a vital platform for dialogue on long-standing disputes. Despite challenges, the meetings provide a chance to reduce tensions and explore potential compromises.

As the talks proceed, attention will focus on the proposals from each side. Negotiators will discuss specific mechanisms for sanctions relief and nuclear oversight. Experts caution that obstacles remain, but success in Geneva could lead to further rounds and a possible comprehensive agreement. The outcome may shape regional stability and international diplomacy for months to come.
