Tensions between Washington and Tehran have surged after Iran’s foreign minister rejected statements by US President Donald Trump. Abbas Araghchi said the Iran strike claim is completely false and exists only to justify U.S. military actions against Iran. He emphasized that the claim has no basis and is politically motivated.

Araghchi addressed the issue on social media, dismissing Trump’s assertion that US forces prevented a planned Iranian strike. He said the narrative aimed to defend recent U.S. military operations conducted alongside Israel. According to him, the Iran strike claim misrepresents Iran’s intentions and inflates the need for military action.

Araghchi stressed that Iran never planned any preventive or preemptive attack on U.S. forces. He described the U.S. operation as a costly mistake influenced by Israeli political pressure. He added that ordinary American taxpayers would ultimately carry the financial burden.

Trump had framed the strikes as defensive measures to protect U.S. troops in the Middle East, but Iranian officials strongly disputed that explanation. Araghchi said the operation served political interests rather than security needs and labeled it a strategic miscalculation.

Iranian military officials reported rapid retaliation after the U.S. strikes. Statements said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched missiles and drones against American targets. Iranian authorities also claimed casualties among U.S. forces and reported some personnel relocating from regional bases, though independent confirmation is limited.

The confrontation followed weeks of diplomatic tension and regional lobbying. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly urged Washington to increase pressure and advance a trip to support stronger military action.

The conflict expanded as Iran targeted strategic Israeli positions and warned retaliation would continue while attacks persisted. Analysts cautioned that further escalation could destabilize regional security and disrupt global energy markets.

Financial costs also remain a concern for U.S. leaders, with reports suggesting billions spent on the campaign. Domestic debates over defense spending continue, and advisers reportedly urged Trump to outline an exit strategy.

Diplomats expect ongoing exchanges between Tehran and Washington. Observers warn that additional military incidents could occur if tensions remain unresolved, keeping the Iran strike claim at the center of the political narrative.
