Iran’s Nuclear Program Defends Sovereignty, Araghchi Says

Iran says its nuclear program represents national sovereignty, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated. He explained that the nuclear program reflects Iran’s rights. No outside power can limit it. Diplomacy remains the only way to solve disputes, but negotiations must respect Iran’s independence. Araghchi spoke at the first National Congress on Foreign Policy. The Iranian people’s demands for freedom, independence, and democracy guide foreign policy. He also noted that these principles respond to historical foreign interference. Lessons from Iran’s modern history, including the Qajar and Pahlavi eras, continue to shape the nation.

The minister confirmed that Iran will continue its nuclear program without obstruction. “No one has the right to tell us what we can or cannot have,” he said. Enrichment is a national right that must continue, he added. Previous attacks on nuclear facilities failed to weaken Iran’s capabilities. Araghchi emphasized that the country does not seek nuclear weapons. Instead, Iran relies on resisting pressure from global powers. “Our nuclear program is saying no to the great powers,” he noted. He also stressed that the nation rejects bullying and intimidation.

Giving up nuclear rights would cost Iran even more, the minister warned. He praised citizens’ resilience during the recent 12-day war. Early calls for Iran’s surrender eventually shifted to demands for a ceasefire. Iran remains open to dialogue, but any talks must respect national rights, Araghchi added. Successful diplomacy requires both sides to engage fairly. “If they speak with respect, we respond with respect. If they use force, we respond in kind,” he said.

Military readiness does not signal a desire for war. It shows the country can protect itself under any circumstances. Araghchi concluded that the nuclear program safeguards national dignity, independence, and sovereignty. It allows Iran to negotiate from a position of strength. The nuclear program symbolizes both defense and dialogue. It reinforces Iran’s international stance and demonstrates the country’s refusal to yield to coercion.
