Iran warns that all ports and economic centers in Persian Gulf states could be targeted if the U.S. attacks. In addition, Iran warns that this comes amid escalating U.S.-Israel military operations in the region. Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, senior spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, delivered the warning on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He said no port, economic center, or location in the Gulf would remain beyond Iran’s reach.

Shekarchi emphasized that Iran has exercised restraint since late February by striking only U.S. military bases and regional assets. However, he warned that attacks will expand if Iran’s ports face aggression. The warning follows U.S.-Israel operations targeting Iranian positions across the region. Consequently, Tehran responded with missile and drone strikes on military facilities and strategic infrastructure.

Military analysts note this statement marks a shift in Iran’s strategy. By naming commercial ports as potential targets, Tehran aims to deter U.S. attacks. Furthermore, the threat could affect shipping lanes, trade flows, and global energy markets. Experts also warn that targeting ports could disrupt oil exports. Iran is a major Gulf producer, and any attack could create worldwide economic ripple effects.

Regional leaders and diplomats are monitoring the situation closely. Meanwhile, targeting commercial hubs could provoke wider international responses and complicate diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions. Shekarchi’s comments highlight Iran’s strategy of signaling consequences while keeping military action controlled. In addition, officials say this approach balances deterrence with avoiding full-scale regional conflict.

Economists highlight that threats to Persian Gulf ports could raise shipping insurance rates and cause volatility in trade markets. As a result, businesses in the region may face disruptions if hostilities expand. Looking ahead, Iran warns that any strike on southern ports will trigger wider attacks across the Gulf. Therefore, continued U.S.-Israel operations could prompt further retaliatory measures. Iran warns that escalation is avoidable if attacks on its infrastructure stop. Ultimately, the statement demonstrates Tehran’s resolve to defend its national assets and interests.
